At present, silicone is more and more widely used in daily life, and there are many types of silicone on the market. silicone is mainly divided into one-component silicone and two-component silicone. There is a big difference in application
The performance and application difference between one-component silicone and two-component silicone:
One-component silicone:
One-component adhesives usually have stronger bonding ability, crack resistance, elongation, mechanical strength and aging resistance, so in practical applications, they are mainly used in parts, housings, components and various industrial Bonding, filling, shock absorption and sealing applications with living materials.
Two-component silicone:
Two-component silicone usually has better fluidity, but its bonding ability and mechanical strength are slightly weaker than one-component silicone. Therefore, in practical applications, it is mainly used for waterproof sealing, potting and gap sealing of equipment.
The performance and application difference between one-component silicone and two-component silicone:
One-component silicone:
There is only one component, no need to mix when using, just extrude directly, but the one-component silicone can only rely on the moisture in the air to make the molecules associate and solidify, and cannot be heated to accelerate it solidified. Therefore, the curing time is slightly longer. If it is a one-component potting silicone, there are certain requirements for the thickness of the silicone, which usually needs to be controlled within 6mm. If the potting thickness exceeds 6mm, the curing speed will be very slow. Layered potting can be considered to increase the curing speed.
Two-component silicone:
There are two components, A and B, which need to be blended according to the specified ratio when used. The more common blending ratios of A and B in the market are: 1:1, 10:1. Regardless of the mixing ratio, it has no effect on the performance of the two-component adhesive, but from the perspective of uniform mixing, 1:1 is more conducive to mixing. The curing of the two-component adhesive does not depend on the moisture in the air. When the potting thickness exceeds 6mm, it has a faster recovery speed than the one-component adhesive, and it can be accelerated by heating.
